This Semaphore replaces the one formerly in L'Aber-Wrac'h the vision range of which was limited.
Its watching zone covers the coastal area from Ile de Batz in the east to Ushant in the west First in 2nd category in October 1981 , it was finally classed as 1st category on September 11th 1983

Building of Brignogan Semaphore started in February 1980 , at Le Bilou foreland . Its architecture is the work of Xavier Joubert , better known as the builder of Pen Duick 6 , and the designer-builder of the transoceanic trimaran Biotherm , sailed in the early eighties by Florence Arthaud.
The Semaphore is manned 24 hours a day by Navy personnel .
They can be reached through the VHF , Channel 10 or 16 (Emergency Channel), or through the 02.98.83.50.84.
